Anfield man arrested on suspicion of distributing indecent images of children

A man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing/distributing indecent images of children after a warrant was executed in Anfield yesterday (Tuesday 3 May).

The 34-year-old man, from Anfield, was arrested at his home and electronic devices seized for further examination.

He has been released under investigation for the offence and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Laura Parr said, “Merseyside Police takes the possession and distribution of indecent images extremely seriously.

“Every single indecent image shared involves the abuse of children, and the distribution of such vile images feeds the demand for them and helps create more victims.

“We have specialist officers within the Online Child Abuse Investigations team who are dedicated to investigating these crimes, bringing those responsible before the courts and ultimately protecting further vulnerable young people from unimaginable suffering.

“We will continue proactively targeting those people in our community who contribute to the cycle of abuse by making or possessing indecent images and I would encourage anyone with concerns or information to get in contact with us. We always act on all the information we receive.”

If you have information on the possession or distribution of indent images, please DM @MerpolCC on Twitter or message ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook.

Alternatively, you can leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. You can also use their online form anonymously:
