Adkins speaks ahead of Crewe game

Nigel Adkins has emphasised the importance of the fans, as a large away following is expected for Saturday’s trip to Crewe Alexandra.

Rovers come into the game having picked up seven points from their last four league games, as they aim to climb the League Two table after a bad start.

Crewe occupy a Play-Off spot at present but lost at Salford City in their last league fixture. They are, however, unbeaten at home in the division.

“On Saturday against Grimsby, we needed a momentum shift. The SWA got right behind the players, it was wonderful,” said Adkins.

“It’s what we want. We want that togetherness. Especially when things are going against us, we need that lift and that drive.

“It’s been great to see Luke Norris and Jake Leake running around [in training]. Jordan Turnbull picked up a dead leg on Tuesday night. Reece McAlear won’t be available for the weekend.

“[Crewe] have done really well. They’ll play three at the back but are adaptable. That’s why I love this division, it’s a lot more intelligent now.”
