11 October 1946 – HONOUR FOR POSTMAN’S RESCUER

Mr. Joseph Bibby. aged 47, 15 Briardale Road, Mossley Hill, Liverpool Corporation electrician, saw a dog attacking a postman and at once tackled the animal which had the postman by the back of his neck.

When help came, the postman had 42 bites and Bibby 12.

Bibby will receive the Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society’s silver medal from the Lord Mayor (Alderman Luke Hogan) at a meeting of the Electricity Committee on Monday.
