95th minute Colchester goal seals victory over Tranmere

Tranmere visited Colchester United this afternoon for a 3pm kick-off in their latest game of the 2021/22 League 2 season.

Ahead of the match, Mickey Mellon said of Rover’s recent form, “Yeah, it’s very [exciting], we’re pleased that we’ve worked hard to be in the shakeup with eight games to go now, so we’re pleased with that and now we want to continue to keep being competitive and be in it right until the very end.”

“I just think that we made some [mistakes] if you give away penalties and losing goals from set plays it’s always going to be difficult to win tight games if you’re giving away cheap goals like that, like the last-minute goal at Walsall.

“They’re a great group of players so they always very quickly want to get back onto what makes us a good team to get good results and we’ve managed to start to get the results now.”
