On Friday 18 August, John Hammond arranged a 5k run/walk at Birkenhead Park in support of Danny de Brabander and TeamDDB.
Danny has been struggling a lot with his health lately, and his cancer is unfortunately progressing. His condition has worsened, and he is currently wheelchair-bound.
Thankfully Danny was able to attend the event despite his ongoing issues, and over 200 people turned up in support, this made up of family, friends and even strangers who have been inspired by Danny’s journey.
TeamDDB has now raised over £130,000 since Danny was diagnosed with Cancer in January 2019, and this has created a real community on Wirral and across Merseyside, with over 1,000 hoodies and T-shirts sold.
They have supported over 25 local charities along the way, and done many random acts of kindness for people who are suffering from health conditions and need a lift or a treat. Danny and TeamDDB have also continued to raise vital awareness for Bowel Cancer.

On the event, John Hammond said, “The Main reason I wanted to organise a little get-together is to show you how much everyone cares about Danny.
“We can all see how tough the last few months have been for him, and we can all see how much you are fighting, so nights like this are our way of showing how many people are there for him.
“We wanted him to know he is not alone, and that he has inspired so many people many people by his strength and kindness.
“Danny is a massive inspiration to us all mate. Even now despite his own battles, Danny continues to do random acts of kindness and support the local community which is truly amazing.”
